Judge denies Hunter Biden's demand to drop federal tax charges.

Hunter Biden's federal tax case judge dismissed his attempts to dismiss the charges. In an 82-page judgment, U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi denied Biden's legal team's eight motions to dismiss the indictment or particular counts based on legal considerations.

Biden faced three felonies and six misdemeanors in tax accusations last year. His plea is not guilty. One defense motion focused on a rejected plea offer, contending that a diversion arrangement would set aside some charges if the terms were honored.

Another motion claimed that prosecutors selectively targeted Biden, while another claimed that special counsel David Weiss was improperly appointed.

"But politicians take credit for many things over which they have no power and have made no impact," Scarsi. "As counsel conceded at the hearing, just because someone says they influenced a prosecutorial decision does not mean that they did."

Lowell said, “We strongly disagree with the Court’s decision and will continue to vigorously pursue Mr. Biden’s challenges to the abnormal way the Special Counsel handled this investigation and charged this case.

In a hearing last week, Biden's counsel requested a court to dismiss the tax charges, claiming political motivation. Scarsi predicted a decision on their motions by April 17.

At the hearing, Lowell said "there’s nothing regular about how this case was initially investigated."

Last year, Biden was arrested on federal firearms charges for taking drugs and having a handgun. The trial is in June. His pleas to those charges are also not guilty.
