The Biden campaign considers Florida 'winnable' in 2024.

The Joe Biden campaign claims a chance in Florida over all odds. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' 2022 near-20-point win seemed to seal the state as a Republican safe haven after Trump's two wins. However, Biden's campaign argues it can win there in November by juxtaposing the administration's programs with the GOP's "toxic political agenda" and the state's particular location in the abortion debate.

Biden's campaign manager, Julie Chávez Rodríguez, stated that Florida is a winnable state for President Biden, noting Trump's weak campaign and coalition vulnerabilities.

DeSantis' historic re-election win in the 2022 midterms and Republicans' more than 800,000-person voter registration lead over Democrats have made Florida no longer considered “the nation's largest swing state” and a battleground state.

However, Biden's team believes abortion and other issues make it more competitive in the state. The state's high court authorized a ballot question on Monday that would allow abortion up to 24 weeks, when there is viability outside the womb, and upheld Florida's 15-week abortion limit, allowing a six-week ban.

Democrats in Florida expect abortion will boost their candidates up and down the ballot. In November, 62% of University of North Florida poll respondents said they would vote “yes” on the abortion ballot proposal, which needs 60% approval.

The Biden campaign introduced Florida veterans Jasmine Burney Clark, Phillip Jerez, and Jackie Lee as state leaders last week. However, senior adviser Susie Wiles and James Blair, a veteran Trump associate who became Republican National Committee political director, have Florida experience.

Democrats have a huge monetary lead over Trump and national Republican committees, supporting Biden in a state many consider uncontested. Democratic funds totaled $155 million at the start of March, while Trump had $42 million.

Chávez Rodríguez argued that Donald Trump's policy, including an abortion ban, attacks on seniors, and rising costs, is highly unpopular with Florida voters who will decide the election. "Our campaign is ready to seize the opportunity."
